To whom should I send my work or demos? To whom should I send my entertainment or co-production idea?+
Club Soda is not an event producer or show producer: it is a hall lessor. Therefore, it is useless to contact the programming staff to solicit financial support for any project, purchase a show or produce an artist.
What is the venue’s capacity?+
Club Soda can accommodate up to 900 standing guests or 530 seated guests. Whether you choose to retract the balcony or to set up a few bistro tables for a cocktail, there are a range of options available to you. Contact us for more info!
I would like to rent for a party with friends just one section of the Club Soda. Who should I contact?+
Club Soda is a professional performance and entertainment venue. As such, we welcome all types of events, making it impossible to rent out just one section of the venue at a reduced price. We rent the entire venue, which includes all related services (bar, cloakroom, box office, cleaning crew, lighting, sound equipment, etc.).
Is a seating plan available?+
Club Soda is usually a general admission venue. This means first come, first served. If you wish to reserve tables for your clients, a table reservation service is available to you. Please refer to Club Soda’s seating plan. Additional charges will apply for this service. Please contact us for more details.
Are the shows presented in your venue reserved to those 18 years and over?+
In most cases, minors are allowed in the venue. When an event restricts minors from attending, 18+ is clearly stated on the event page found on our website. We may ask for identification cards when purchasing alcohol. Moreover, any minor caught drinking will be expelled immediately from the performance hall.
Is the venue accessible to people with limited mobility?+
Yes. A section of the Club Soda is located at street level. The venue is equipped with a washroom, located adjacent to the box office, which is designed for mobility impaired users. The seating area designated for wheelchairs is limited and we strongly suggest that people with limited mobility arrive 15 minutes before the doors open.
I would like to rent Club Soda for an event. What steps do I need to take in order to do so?+
You should contact us! We will need to ask you a few questions about your needs and discuss rental options with you.
We are happy to sign rental contracts with businesses and any individual who has reached the age of majority. For co-productions and groups of companies, please be advised that we will sign a rental contract with just one entity. Although your GST and QST tax numbers will be used with regards to ticketing, you are not required to have tax numbers to produce a show.
What does the venue rental include?+
When you rent the Club Soda, the following services are at your disposal if you require them: bar service, ticketing, cloakroom (seasonal), lighting, cleaning crew, electricity, ventilation, table setup, etc. These services and facilities are included in the rental agreement. You will not be asked to pay any surcharges for these services.
What is the implementation process with regards to ticket sales?+
Once your event is confirmed, we will forward a form to your attention that must be completed and returned to us at least 48 business hours prior to the day you selected for ticket sales to begin. This form will be used to program the tickets on our system; therefore it is very important that no mistakes are made when completing the form. Errors will be recorded as they appear!
Before we launch the ticket sales for your event, you will be asked via email to approve sample tickets to ensure that no text or price errors were made. Ticket sales can commence once you have approved the samples. This same email will include links that will be used by the public to procure tickets for your event online. These links are the only ones authorized for online sales.
Will I be updated in real-time as to how many tickets have been sold for my event?+
Starting the day immediately following the day tickets go on sale, a sales report will be forwarded to you via email by default every morning at 9 a.m. If you prefer to view your ticket sales in real-time, you may request an access code from the ticketing manager, who will ensure that instructions and access codes are forwarded to you.
What is a “consignment ticket?”+
A consignment ticket is meant for hand-to-hand and in-store sales only. It is forbidden to sell tickets via a transactional website other than Club Soda’s own site. Service fees are $1.00 for the first 100 consignment tickets and $2.00 for consignment tickets #101 and onwards. These service fees are payable upon receipt of the tickets in cash, by cheque, or by automatic debit. We will only refund any unsold tickets if they are returned to Club Soda’s box office no later than the night of the event.
If you prefer to administer consignment tickets only, we are happy to accommodate you! Contact us for more details.
Can I sell my tickets via another transactional site, such as PayPal?+
We offer a comprehensive ticketing service that includes a Club Soda ticket attendant during business hours and during your event, a purchase-by-phone service, a reliable transactional website, a close association with La Vitrine Culturelle (Montreal’s centralized cultural box office), ticket printing, etc. We guarantee all the necessary services of a standard box office. If, for any particular reason, your event requires you to sell tickets via a transactional website other than our own, please contact the ticketing manager to confirm whether or not this is a viable option.
What are the costs associated with the ticketing service?+
There are printing costs associated with each ticket that is printed. These charges will be applied to the final bill based on the total number of tickets that were printed. Check for errors BEFORE approving the printing charges!
Service fees are charged to each customer who purchases a ticket. The fees are added to the base price of the ticket and vary between $1 and $4.25 depending on the method of purchase and the price of the ticket. Would you like to charge $30/ticket regardless of the method of purchase (web or box office)? We are unable to accommodate this, as it is not our policy to offer a combined tariff for tickets. We believe that the customer should be allowed to decide on their purchase method based on the service fees that will be applied.
Credit card usage fees are calculated based on net sales made by Visa, MasterCard or American Express and account for 4% of this amount.
Where can we park our production vehicles?+
Club Soda does not have its own parking lot for production vehicles. The closest paid parking lots are located at the Complexe Desjardins building (bordered by Saint-Urbain, Jeanne-Mance, Sainte-Catherine streets, and René-Lévesque Boulevard) and at UQÀM University (accessible via Sanguinet Street, just south of De Maisonneuve Street).
Does Club Soda allow fire breathers to perform and the use of pyrotechnics?+
In exceptional cases, open flames, fire performances, and pyrotechnics are allowed. You must obtain both a written approval from Club Soda’s management and a permit from the Montreal Fire Department. Any individuals handing these effects must be certified to handle the planned display as required by law.
I have decorative elements to install. How do I proceed?+
We are accustomed to managing some of the most extravagant stage decor out there…provided that they are in accordance with our standards! All set design elements (decor and banners) must be fireproofed.
Your decor and acrobatic equipment may be hung from the ceiling, provided that the Technical Director (TD) has approved your request prior to the event. All of these issues must be discussed with our technical department BEFORE the event.
When is the earliest I can access the venue/hall?+
As our technical department must be on-site when you arrive, you must confirm your arrival time with them first. For safety reasons, we never leave anyone unattended in the hall! The hall is available for setup as of 8 a.m. the day of the event and must be taken down by 3 a.m. the following evening.
I would like a caterer. Do you work exclusively with a specific caterer? Do you charge a royalty fee?+
There is no exclusive caterer at Club Soda. You may hire the caterer of your choice. We do not charge you any fees if you choose to do so. We can accommodate the caterer by providing a storage room equipped with a sink and a refrigerator. Caterers often set up their facilities and kitchen in the common area adjacent to the dressing rooms.
Can I choose the security company that will be hired for my event?+
MAXIMUM SÉCURITÉ security officers are licenced by the Bureau de la sécurité privée and have extensive knowledge of the premises. They will implement professional security operations, guarantee public safety, and ensure a smooth entry into the hall for guests.
If you have your own security team, we will gladly add them to our existing team.
Must I hire your stage technicians?+
Regardless of the situation, the presence of OUR technicians is indispensible. They know the venue and hall inside and out and have the expertise required to assist you in putting on a successful and quality event, from the most moderate events to the most extravagant! If you happen to have your own sound engineer or lighting designer, our team will be ready to welcome them!
The Technical Director is your contact for all matters show-related—from the setup pre- show, to how the event is carried out, to post-show takedown. The TD must be able and ready to assist you while you are on-site. No one is ever left unattended in the hall. Ideally, the TD will have received each group’s technical rider in advance, prior to the event. The Chief of Electric will oversee all electrical connections and operate the lighting console, if necessary. Although the TD will communicate the necessary information to the Chief of Electric, you may also want to contact him/her to discuss any lighting and hall ambiance specifications.
To ensure that the audio feedback is kept to a minimum, an additional technician is required when a band is scheduled to perform. A machinist is required if an extensive stage setup and takedown is scheduled. The machinist may also act as the follow spot operator, if necessary.
I would like to finance my event by selling alcohol. How should I proceed?+
Club Soda has an amphitheatre liquor permit. Our venue is equipped with refrigerators, bars, small cash registers, and all other necessary supplies. We guarantee a professional and quality bar service. However, only alcohol purchased by the Club Soda can be consumed. We do not accept that you run your system parallel to ours.
I am close to securing a major alcohol sponsorship for my event. What should I know before confirming the sponsorship?+
We are accustomed to honouring alcohol sponsorships except when requests fall outside our standards. However, such matters should be discussed in advance with venue management. Please note that sponsorships may not come from a grocery store or a convenience store.
Are clients obligated to use the cloakroom?+
Depending on the weather, the cloakroom is mandatory on a seasonal basis, that is, from October to May. The cost for coat-checking items may be absorbed by you or charged to those attending the event.
Will my event appear on your website?+
To guarantee that your event appears on our website, we ask that you forward the following information to us:
All events that include ticket sales appear on our website and are displayed on our marquee the day of the event. Events without ticket sales may be displayed upon request.
What type of third party liability insurance is available to us?+
We ask that all individuals and entities renting the Club Soda be covered by a valid third party liability insurance policy of up to one million dollars ($1,000,000). All individuals and entities renting the Club Soda are responsible for any physical injuries or property damage that may occur during the rental period. You have two choices: (a) you are already covered by your own policy, in which case you will be required to forward a copy of your insurance certificate to us; or (b) you are not covered by your own policy and would like to purchase the policy offered by Club Soda.
Do you require a deposit?+
An initial deposit covering the rental costs (including taxes) must be made upon signing the contract. The payment can be made in cash, or by cheque payable to Productions Gamago.
If the revenue from ticket sales does not cover the total estimated costs, a second deposit covering the balance will be requested 5 business days prior to the event.
Shortly following the event, a statement of account (or final invoice) will be forwarded to your attention. This invoice will stipulate whether any money is owed or whether you should expect a cheque from us.
